Last year's Sports Day was similar to this year's in many aspects. (See the October posting: "Ye did run well" for photos and commentary on 2011 Sports Day.) The entire mission gathered at Bishop Richardson's camp. The missionaries played baseball, soccer and volleyball. However they also enjoyed playing basketball and field hockey.

| Elder Waite with the ball. |
| And the sisters can play basketball, too...but I do think they may foul a little more often. Left to right: Sister VanTassell, Sister Pinales, Sister Gomez, Sister Raiau, Sister Gleason. |
| Waiting for the shot to fall left to right: Elder Howard, Elder Kiel, Elder Waite, Elder Vodoratskiy, Elder DeKlerk. |
| Unfortunately we had to stop field hockey early when it started to rain. The court gets extremely slick and no one wants to have a sprained ankle as a remembrance of the time together. |
The zones dressed in different colors again last year. (OK, I wasn't as organized so the blue team did not get pictures. Sorry...Suitland Zone.)

| Silver Spring Zones |

| Seneca Zone |
| Sisters rule! |
And of course the most fun is being together - visiting, talking or playing.
| And no matter which zone they're in, they really do love each other. |
| Elder Tolman sees I have a camera. Hi, Elder Tolman!! |
| Catching up with friends and former companions is one of the best things about the day. |
| Everyone waits to hear the instruction about Hero Ball. |
Hero Ball last year had soccer, ultimate frisbee, tennis and Dodge Ball. Dodge ball had an interesting twist: a ball-eating dog kept appearing on field, making off with a ball, destroying it, and then returning for another ball.

And the winner of this year's Hero Ball is...Silver Spring Zones.
Brother and Sister Pratt came and cooked again for us.
| You can see some of the things it takes to cook for 130 missionaries. You can also see the buses in the background that Bishop Richardson uses to transport missionaries from the Metro stop. The missionaries left to right: Elder Pound, Elder Kunzler, Sister Luthi, Sister Humbert. Sister Otieno is behind Elder Kunzler. |
| The Pratts will cook whatever we ask them to cook - even 130 huge pieces of chicken which take great finesse to get just right. And it was cooked perfectly. |
| President Matsumori helps serve the chicken. Sister Pratt, Brother Linzou, and Brother Pratt did all the cooking. |
Here are a few more pictures - with no apparent commonality except they are of missionaries and we love missionaries.
