"Joy cometh in the morning" - Psalms 30:5

The missionaries told us that one of the traditions is taking sunrise pictures. What a great idea. After all, the 6:30 wake time is before the sun rises for at least part of the year. Of course Jim and I started to take pictures of the beautiful sunrises we could see from our home in North Potomac.

What we didn't realize was that the missionaries were really talking about  the pictures they take at the National Mall on their preparation day. They shoot them from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial with the Washington Memorial as the backdrop. And in order to have the sun at just the right angle, they will often be up before 4 AM. We have opted to continue to shoot photos from our window at home and rely on the pictures the missionaries send to us.
