Night of Music and Inspiration: June 2, 2013

Tonight's performance was an example of how flexible and nimble the Visitors' Center and the missionaries are.  Twenty minutes before the fireside was to start, a typical summer downpour hit the area, complete with thunder and lightening.  While most of the Visitors Center was fine, the auditorium lost power.  No lights. No sound. No air conditioning.

Thankfully there were many missionaries who helped bring chairs, wheel a microphone stand for the speakers and push the piano into the lobby.  The Night of Music and Inspiration was only a few minutes late in starting. Even with the rain the lobby was completely filled to capacity.

Because of our setting, you will have a beautiful view through the windows. Unfortunately, it caused some back lighting, so you may not see the performers as well as you usually do. Also, without a sound system, some of the songs are difficult to hear.  Hopefully you can still feel the spirit as you listen.

You will see and hear:

"A Child's Prayer" sung by Elder Farley and Elder Peterson, accompanied by Elder Bodily.
"Whenever I Hear the Song of a Bird" sung by Sister Word, Sister Chappell, Sister Schoemaker and Sister Engman, accompanied by Sister  Gros.
"Nearer My  God to Thee" sung by Elder Hatch, Elder Arnett and Elder Branning accompanied by Elder Lowry on guitar.
"The Lord is My  Shepherd" sung by Sister Carcamo, Sister Nakatsuka, Sister Shaw, Sister Graff and Sister Chappell accompanied by Sister  Clement on ukulele.
"O My Father" sung by Elder Hart accompanied by  Elder Vaterlaus.
"Take Me Home" sung by Sister Brown accompanied by Sister Gros on piano and Sister Owens on cello.
