Mission Tour: December 12-13, 2012

Each year a general authority is assigned to visit each mission and teach the missionaries. This year we were fortunate to have Elder Allan F. Packer and his wife come.  We are grateful for the focus on how we can qualify for the spirit and how to be better missionaries.  Elder Packer took time to greet each missionary and also had time to interview some one on one.
Elder and Sister Packer

Sister Packer met with the sisters prior to the general session and answered their questions. She had wonderful advice as she accompanied her husband who served as a mission president in Malaga, Spain nine years ago. She was familiar with their challenges and could celebrate with them the successes they had.

On the second day, the Relief Society from the Calvert ward served us.  These sisters really like to cook and wanted to let Elder and Sister Packer have a southern meal.

This sister makes the pudding for the dessert.

The seniors line up.

Left to right: Elder Squires, Elder Lanham and Elder Watson.

The meal included barbecue sandwiches. So the sister provided bibs for all of us.  (Notice the ones draped over the chairs in the back for the others who come in.)  They had peanuts on the table and served lemonade in canning jars.

The sisters are more careful and don't use the bibs.  Besides, it doesn't accessorize their outfits well.

None of these elders saw the camera - they are too intent on eating.
