Following Hurricane Sandy there was a call out to members in the area to help provide supplies. In the first days following the hurricane, the greatest need was for clothing. One of the Virginia stakes gathered 5 semi trailers of clothing and goods that went into the area about November 7. I was told by one woman that she and a friend took two mini-vans full of donated clothing. They arrived at the stake center and they were greeted by dozens of people who unloaded the vans in a matter of minutes. Driving home this woman looked back at her daughter in the car seat and realized that the daughter's coat had been taken as well. She laughed and said that she knew it was headed for a good cause.
The call for supplies continued and members of the Seneca stake and surrounding neighborhoods gathered donated clothing on November 10. Then following stake conference, members of the stake gathered to sort the clothing, repackage it in boxes and load two semi-trailers full.
If you would like to see video of this activity, search Youtube for "Clothing Drive for Victims of Hurricane Sandy." This 8 minute video was made by the Seneca stake. You will see some of our missionaries in it.
Here are a few pictures that have been sent to me by members of the Seneca stake.
